Buehler ten times to fall back under cover of 17th Ohio battery - but for some reason did not obey. Gen. Burbridge dismounted at one time and took charge of one of the pieces and discharged canister and grape into the ranks of the enemy producing great havoc, but owing to the disobedience of Col. Buehler had to fall back to save the battery, the enemy meanwhile had nearly surrounded them. One of the pieces was subsequently lost.
